Helen Loeda Parks, our beloved and respected mother and “grandmama”, bravely left her earthly home for wings in Heaven on January 13, 2025, in Morristown, Tn after an extended illness.
Helen was born to Willis and Martha Singleton of Grissom’s Island on the Clinch River in Claiborne County, TN. Fondly called “Lo” by her close family, she was saved at an early age, raised her children with their father in Fairview Bible Baptist Church in Morristown, and belonged to Highland Baptist Church in Whitesburg.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Knox Hensley; daughter, Cathy Diana Hensley Anderson; parents, Will and Martha Singleton and brother, Danny Singleton.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Jenny Anderson and Rebecca (Rick) Seals; granddaughters, Rachael Reeves, Noelle (Travis) Mills and Brooklyn Seals; grandsons, Garrett (Ashley) Miller and Caymon NeSmith, and great grandchildren, Emmi Miller, Peyton and Camden Young; her 5 beautiful sisters, Belva Gibson, Wilma (Richard) Peoples, Caroline Bagony, Faye (Wayne) Kirk, Connie (Wayne) Long; her close neighbor and friend, Sue; longtime beloved friend, Lola, from Enka and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen, retired, received her bachelor’s degree from Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN and never tired of her position in Human Resources. Semi-retired, she equally adored her “family” and Doyle Wallace at Rebecca’s Restaurant and Holiday Inn. Always dedicated and enthusiastic about work, she was an excellent seamstress, passionate gardener, and quite the “handywoman” at just about everything with skill.
No one could have a harder working or more nurturing mother than her children growing up. She will be extremely missed and cherished in memory by all who knew and loved her and her precious pets she adored!
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 3:00pm with the Reverend Terry Bunch officiating. Interment will follow in Emma Jarnagin Cemetery, Morristown, TN.
Allen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
