J.P. Hall, 92, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 17, 2022. He was affectionately known as the “Bubble Gum Man” to scores of children at Trinity United Methodist Church where he faithfully served as Sunday school teacher, trustee, and in many other church leadership roles. He was a medic in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He served as a Hamblen County Road Commissioner for many years and retired from Wallace Hardware as Vice President and Head of the Farm Implement Division after 45 years of service. J. P. was an eternal optimist that never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him.
He was preceded in death by his parents L. J. and Julia Hall; wife of 50 years, Doris Woods Hall; son, Randy Hall; two sisters, Imogene Rutherford, and Betty Darnell; brothers, Curt Hall, Ray D. Hall, and infant brother Burnett Hall; and stepdaughter, Melissa Mills.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mabel Sue Hall; children, Rhonda (Steve) Bowen; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hall; stepchildren, Steve (Nikki Walker) Mills and Stan Mills; grandchildren, Preston (Victoria) Bowen, Payne “Bubba” (Nicole) Bowen, and Lauren Hall; step grandchildren, Lesli (Andrew) Mense, Andrew Mills, Isabella Mills, and Gracey Mills; great grandchildren, Hollyn and Mia Bowen, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless special friends.
Special thanks to St. Luke’s Physical Therapy, Life Care Center of Morristown, and two special care givers, Barb Rhea and Kellee Wright.
