JAMES CARROLL (JIM) DODSON, age 80, of Whitesburg, entered Heaven's Gates on November 22, 2020, with his wife of 60 years and his daughters by his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Dodson Fawbush, and grandson, Lucas Bowlin.
Jim leaves his wife, Sylvia Cook Dodson, daughters, Sharon (Gale) Carter, Angela (Tony) Smith, and Pamela (Burl) Jones. He was lovingly called"Paw"by his grandchildren, Lindsey (Shane) Ratliff, Angela Lee (Dave) Williams, Nicholas Samples and Ashley Samples Reece; as well as great-grandchildren Ryder and Cooper Ratliff, Marlee and Maya Williams and Kendra Reece; also, his brother Steve (Jeanne) Fawbush of Nashville, aunt Helen Johnson of Hendersonville, numerous cousins including special cousin, Wilma Baxter.
Jim retired from Lear Seating Corporation after 34 years and attended Gateway Church in Morristown for many years. He loved gardening and being outdoors, as he spent most days during his retirement years. Special thanks to the U.T. Home Medical team for their loving care, as well as numerous other caregivers and prayer warriors.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 27, 2020 from 5 pm to 7 pm with service beginning at 7:00. Graveside service to be held at Hamblen Memory Gardens at 11 am on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Facial coverings for all persons attending is required and social distancing is expected.
