James Walter (Jim) Cox, born July 9, 1925 in Dryden, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home in Morristown.Jim served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran, and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant at the age of 21. He graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a BS in Chemistry and worked as a Chemist at AmericanEnka/BASF. Jim retired as Technical Manager after thirty-eight years of service. For 70 years he was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Morristown.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents A.P. and Margaret Cox; brothers, Ralph Cox and Charles Cox; and daughter, Karen Susan Cox.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nancy Walker Cox; son, Michael (Kerry) Cox; daughter, Nancy Carol (Gordon)Toney; brother Danny Cox of Overland Park, KS; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from Noon – 1 PM, Friday June 11, 2021, at First United Methodist Church inMorristown. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1PM, with Reverends Walter Weikel and Darris Doyalofficiating. Interment will be held in Emma Jarnagin Cemetery following the funeral service.
