James Rickard (Rick) Moody, age 83, of Rutledge, died Saturday, May 13, 2023, at his home in the Bowen Community. He was born March 9, 1940, in Jefferson City, TN to Alma Lorene Noe Moody and Ralph Pierce Moody. He was a member of Rutledge United Methodist Church. Rick was raised and lived his early life in the Shiloh Community of Grainger County. He attended the University of Tennessee where he became employed by the Educational Television division of the College of Communication. Later, he was employed by Hodge Printing Company in sales and design of publications. In 1970, he opened and operated for thirty-two years, a one-man business, Cabin Crafts of Bowen, where he built antique reproductions. He was an avid reader, loved to play all kinds of string instruments, tooled fine leather work and loved keeping his family farm beautiful.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph P. and Alma L. Moody, father and mother-in-law, Benjamin A. Jr. and Hazel R. Creech.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Jane Creech Moody; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Julie Moody; three nephews and their families.
The family will meet at Rutledge United Methodist Church Cemetery Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm for a graveside service with Reverend Gary Satterfield and Mark Edwards officiating.
