James "Shannon" Mason

James “Shannon” Mason, 60, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Friends of Hospice Serenity House after a three-year battle with cancer.  He graduated from Morristown Hamblen High School East and the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Afterwards, he was an avid DnD player and loved to play the guitar and sing.  Most recently, the joy of his life was playing with his 4 year old niece, Emma. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James Mason; “Mamaw” Emma Ogle and grandmothers, Marjorie Henson, Eva Mason and grandfathers, Thurman Mason and James Ogle.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara (Mark) Roach; siblings, Tamara (Chris) Nelson; Shawn (Tonnie) Mason; Shane (Whitney) Mason; Casey (Jason) Garrett; eight nieces and nephews and many special friends, especially Pat Helms and Darrell Lynch.

Special thanks to the Friends of Hospice Serenity House and Caris Hospice.  Special recognition to our little sister, Casey, who was with him daily throughout this ordeal. Her sacrifice did not go unnoticed.

A memorial gathering for Shannon will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 2435 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, TN in their fellowship hall.  We will start at 6:30pm on December 22nd (Thursday). In holding with Shannon’s non-traditional ways, this meeting will be an informal one where we can talk, tell stories, play music, etc. in his remembrance.  Drinks and dessert will be available. If you feel like bringing drink or dessert then do so but it is not mandatory.  We would just like as many of his friends as possible to be there.
