James “Jim” Snowden, 85, of Morristown, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems. He was a longtime and active member of First United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army. He retired from American Enka after 41 years of service and also retired from Wallace Hardware after 18 years. He volunteered at Morristown Hamblen Hospital for 9 years in Admissions, the Cancer Unit and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2018 and 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lura Maude Snowden.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Shirley Snowden; children, Melodie Ann Snowden and Patricia (Reverend Dr. Brian) Germano; granddaughter, Jennifer (Zach) Prosba; 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah Lynne and Hayleigh Ann Prosba; two brothers, Richard (Denzel) Snowden; Stanley (Patsy) Snowden; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The body will lie in repose from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, December 232, 2020 and from 9:00am to 12:00pm Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home. Private graveside services are planned for 1:00pm in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Asa Majors and Walter Weikel officiating.
