James Robert and Sue Hackney, married for over 62 years, went to be with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 22, 2024. Both devout followers of God, they spent their years faithfully serving Him. They were from Pike County, KY and married in 1961. Jim and Sue spent the majority of their lives in Morristown, TN.
They are preceded in death by parents, Ruey and Dorlis Hackney and Malcom and Quinnie Mullins; brothers, Royal Lee Hackney, Russell Chaney, as well as a host of beloved family and friends.
Jim and Sue are survived by their son, David (Charity) Hackney; granddaughters, Chelsey (Andrew) Kingston and Megan (Mason) Monnier; great-grandsons, Ezekiel, Memphis and Elijah; brothers, Terry (Margie) Hackney, Bob (Loretta) Mullins, Bill (Rose) Mullins, and sister, Opal Richardson. They also leave behind many other dear family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Monday, February 26, 2024, in Historic Bethesda Cemetery with Reverend Ray Pratt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or ALPS Adult Day Services, 600 North Daisy Street, Morristown, TN 37814 in Jim and Sue’s honor.
