Janet Owens Durham, 77, passed peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday, June 12, 2021. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Morristown, and a former member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was a native of Lawrence County, but resided near her family in Morristown for the past 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Durham; her parents, William Roy and Allie Stisher Owens; and sisters, Dean Beadle, Jackie Howell, Evelyn Lail, Josephine Hertweck and Carolyn Kirchner.
She is survived by her daughter, Jana (Brack) Terry of Morristown; grandsons, John Robert and Alex Terry; brothers, Bill Owens of Fort Worth, Texas, and Bob (Mary) Owens of Cleburne, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the attentive nurses and staff at Life Care of Jefferson City for her care during the past months.
The family will receive friends 5 – 6 p.m., Monday June 14 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 Wilder St., with funeral services to follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. (CST), Wednesday June 16 at the John Lay Cemetery in Etheridge, Tennessee. The family will gather at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery for visitation before the interment.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the bereavement fund at Trinity UMC, or the local mission funds of Coleman Memorial UMC.
