Jerry T. Williams, 80, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at UT Medical Center after a short battle with brain cancer. He served in the United States Army for 5 years. After the service, he graduated from ETSU with a BA in Education and taught at Greeneville Junior High School for four years while earning his MA of Education and Administration from ETSU. Jerry moved to Morristown East High School in 1973 and became the assistant principal. After three years, he became principal and faithfully served the school for 28 years. Jerry was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Mohawk. He always loved the game of baseball and was the assistant coach at East for 17 years. Jerry also loved the New York Yankees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Margie Williams.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Williams; son, Kelly (Della) Williams; sisters, Patsy Brantley, June (Allen) Silver, and Terry Bailey; as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, in the gymnasium at Morristown East High School. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home with speakers Coach Larry Wallace and John Rogers presiding. Military graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday, August 7, 2023, in Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City, TN.
