Joanna McDonald Jamison, 80, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital with family by her side. She was born July 1, 1945, and was a native Morristown-Hamblen County resident. Joanna was a kind, loving, and caring soul to all who knew her. She was employed for over 40 years by Jefferson Federal Saving and Loans, Jefferson Federal Bank. She retired from HomeTrust Bank after the banks merged.
Joanna was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Morristown. She was a loyal member, attending and participating as class teacher and in other church actives until her declining health interfered. Her favorite passion was preparing “Christmas Shoe Boxes” for the Billy Graham Organization to distribute for children around the world. These went to children who did not have access to even a toothbrush or a toy. She and her class members and church members packed shoe boxes numbering into the hundreds to be sent for the children.
Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hazel McDonald, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joanna is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Kenneth Jamison; son, Brian Jamison; grandson, Cody; granddaughter, Abela; great-grandson, Myles; and brother who was also her caregiver, Bill McDonald.
The family would like to recognize and extended a special thanks to her best friend, Suzanne Smith. They went on trips together that sometimes turned into “Thelma and Louise” adventures. They would also like to recognize other special friends from Joanna’s banking years, Rene Simons, Debbie Hammond, Donna Johnagin, and Janice Massey; as well as her caregiver, Pat Rice; hair stylist, Ginnie Peters; as well as the entire Bethel Baptist Church family
The family will receive friends from 12 PM – 2 PM, on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM, with Rev. Dannie Bell Officiating. Interment will be held following the funeral service in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Allen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
