Laura “Lou” Golden, 89, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 6, 2021, at DeWitt Place. She was a past member of Blair Chapel Church in Cumberland, KY and Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Russellville and also attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked at the Lynch Company Store, the Harlan School of Nursing in Harlan, KY, and for U.S. Steel and Arch in Lynch, KY. After moving to Morristown, she worked in Admissions at Walters State. She was known in Kentucky for being the 1st Lady Basketball referee in 1960 and was honored with The Walk of Legends in Lynch, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy “Joe” Golden, and parents, Ruffie and Esther Condra.
She is survived by her son, Bobby (Betty) Golden of Morristown; grandson, Tyler (Alli) Golden; great grandchildren, Tanner and Audrey Golden of Franklin, TN; brother, Kenneth (Mary Ruth) Condra of Townsend, TN; sister-in-law, Ilene (Hal) Woods of Lynch, KY; brother-in-law Leonard (Wilma) Golden of Brandenburg, KY.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to DeWitt Place and Caris Hospice of Sevierville for their care and support given during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm Monday, November 8, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church prior to the service at 7:00pm with Reverend Mike Cutshaw officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00am Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
