Leta Kay Jones

Leta Kay “Rusty” Jones, 78, of Whitesburg, TN died August 19, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born on September 10, 1944, in Cherryvale, Kansas to Roy and Gladys Yeubanks.

She had 3 children from a previous marriage when she married Carl Jones Sr., the love of her life, who also had 3 children. Together they had 6 children and then adopted another. At the young age of 25, she became a mother of 7 children. The ages were 6 months to 7 years old.

Rusty enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends. She went to BINGO and the casino as often as she could. Her favorite thing to do was Facetime her 6-year-old great granddaughter Clover Seals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Jones Sr.; father, Roy J. Yeubanks; mother, Gladys Faye Yeubanks; brothers, Dale Yeubanks and Jim Yeubanks; son-in-law, Bobby Booth; son, Timothy Jones; grandsons, Davin Schlund and Scott Schlund; granddaughter, Ashlea Harper; and, great grandson, Troy Harper.

She is survived by, sons Alan Schlund, Carl (Beverly) Jones, Jr., and Bo (Julie) Jones; daughters Elaina (Rick) Schlund, Alecia Schlund, Tammy (Joe) Booth, and Carla (Nikki) Jones; brother Gary (Ruth) Yeubanks; sister Shirley (Benny) Phillips; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
