Linda Shipley, age 73, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was a former salesclerk for Lancaster’s Jewelers in Greeneville; teacher assistant for the Hamblen County School System, and an independent Avon Sales Representative for 16 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George “Bill” and Ruby Gregg; grandparents, Fred and Nettie Gregg; Clark and Sarah Ethel Henry; special uncles Shorty (Etta) Gregg and Junior Jaynes.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rev. Dr. Howard (Johnny) Shipley; son, Howard II (Rachel Brittain) Shipley; daughter, Brandee (Rev. Paul) Owens; grandchildren, Elisia (Eric) Collins, Blaine Vincent, Harrison and Emma Grace Shipley, Hannah, A.J. and Esther Owens; three step grandchildren, Storm, Walker, and Keaton Williams; great grandchild, Maverick Collins and step greatgrandchild, Tyson Williams; sister and nephew, Donna Gregg and Heath Fann; Aunt Nelle Jaynes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby Joe and Brenda Shipley; special cousin, Carolyn (Fred) Gammons, special friends, Judy and Gale Douthat, Charlene Allen, Patti Allen, Marilyn Neese, Sharon Herman, Linda Sheddan and Peggy Campbell; her family at Allen Funeral Home, several Avon Sales Representatives; church family at the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church of which she was a member, and several cousins.
She will lie in state in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home from 9:00am until 4:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Receiving of friends will be from 4:00pm until the time of service at 7:00pm. Her son-in-law, Reverend Paul Owens will be the officiating minister. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Historic Bethesda Cemetery.
