Margaret “Fay” Pope, 79, passed away January 21, 2021, in Morristown, TN. She was born May 19, 1941, in Knox County to Cleo and Earl Spradlen.
Fay graduated from Powell High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, she attended Tennessee Technological University and became an X-Ray Technician. In 1968, she married Roy Layton Pope. They lived in Little Rock, AK, while Roy served in the Air Force. After Roy finished his degree, Fay and Roy settled in Morristown. Fay spent the following years working from home, raising children, and actively participating in the community. Through her efforts, she impacted the lives of a number of people throughout the county.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Layton Pope. Surviving are her daughter, Mary (Charles) Collings, her son, Morgan (Jessica) Pope, and her two grandchildren, Claire and Emmett Collings.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 30, at noon. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association (lung.org or 1-800-LUNGUSA)
