Michael “Red” Sawyer, 65, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his home in Whitesburg. He worked at Wallace Hardware and retired from Jeff Hurst Trucking. He was also a farmer. Red loved his friends and was very generous to others. He always had a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Eddie Spoone.
Red is survived by his parents, R.P. and Pearl Sawyer; sisters, Diane Spoone, Katherine (Dale) Wolfe, Janice Sawyer (Jeff Myers); nieces and nephews, Shawn (Larissa) Spoone, Jason (Lisa) Spoone, Chris (Amy) Wolfe, Derek (Amber) Wolfe, and Aneisty (Donavon) Haynes; several great nieces and nephews, many friends; as well as special friends, Mitzi Gibson, Lid Rouse, and Pat Daniels.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30AM, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in St. Paul Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. James Ramsey officiating.
