Odessa "O.D." Barnard Akers

Odessa “O.D.”  Barnard Akers, 90, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 5, 2020 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She worked at Foamex and also worked at the Morristown Moose Lodge for many years.  Her optimism, strength, and spunky attitude will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Daisy Pollard; sons, Johnny Barnard and Steve Barnard; husband John Barnard; brother, Elmer Pollard; sister, Agnes Pollard Shorter.

She is survived by sister, Jean Tilley; niece, Sandy Shorter and great-niece, Angel Silver; as well as several other dear friends.  

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Heritage Center for the wonderful care she received.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Thursday, October 8, 2020, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 7:00 p.m.  Graveside services are planned for 11:00 am Friday, October 9, 2020 in Hamblen Memory Gardens. 

Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
