Pearl Francis (Gillette) Ashley

Pearl Francis Gillette Ashley, 97, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 29, 2023. One Of 11 children born to Jim and Lillie Stroud Gillette of McDonald Community in Greene County, TN. 

Pearl was married to Paul Ashley, and they had 3 children, Jay, Eddie and Joyce. Pearl was a housewife and mother. Once children were grown, she traveled with her husband to many locations for his work. She traveled to Hawaii and Australia as well as many other vacation destinations. Pearl did alterations and was well known in her community and by several upscale retail outlets for her work as a seamstress. She made lots of quilts and crocheted and knitted. She loved to play golf and played for many years into her 80's. She got a "hole in one" and displayed her plaque proudly in her dining room. Pearl loved the "Lady Vols Basketball team" and was a regular at home games at Thompson Bowling arena until she turned 85. She loved to play cards with anyone who wanted to play. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist church.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Private Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
