Peggy Alleen Gorman, 86, of Mohawk, Tn. passed away, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Greeneville where she had resided since 2010 after suffering a stroke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emitt and Ossie Miller; brother, James Miller; grandson, Roger Gorman and husband, James Gorman, Sr.
She was born December 2, 1931 in rural Jefferson County. She attended and graduated high school after which she met and married James E. Gorman, Sr. and attended Morristown Vocational School and became an LPN. She served as President of the Morristown Chapter and was Vice President for the LPN Statewide Association in Nashville. The bulk of her professional career was spent working for Dr. John Caldwell in Morristown until his retirement. She then worked at Grand Court Nursing Home and did some independent work as well. Peggy enjoyed being involved with her community through such organizations as the Red Cross, Bloodmobile and Fairview Baptist Church where she helped organize and run VBS and GA revival classes. Peggy retired in 2008.
Peggy is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dannie & Marie, James Jr. & Diane and Kenneth & Karla Gorman; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ernest Gorman.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, October 12, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 7:00 withJohn Rogers officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
