Penny Kay Cody, age 67, passed away June 14, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born December 16, 1958, and was saved at an early age at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church and was a member at Thankful Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Fay and Opal Manning; sisters, Patricia and Phyllis Manning; brother, Jeffrey Manning; mother and father-in-law, Luther and Ruth Cody; and brother-in-law, Clyde Helton.
She is survived by her husband, of 45 years, David Cody; daughter, Shandy (Kevin) O’Dowd; grandson, Ethan O’Dowd; sisters, Wanda (Robert) Trent, Nishi (Steve) Hodges; brothers, Foye Manning, Johnny (Gail) Manning, Tracy Manning; sisters-in-law Aurelia Helton, Jan (Gary) Lamb, Lisa Cody, brother-in-law, Stan Cody; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff with the University of Tennessee Hospice, especially their caring nurses.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7PM, with Reverends Barry Warren and Taylor Howington officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, June 18, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
