Reverend Lynda "Preacher Lynda" Lou Smith

Reverend Lynda L. “Preacher Lynda” Smith, 73, went home to be with Jesus Monday, February 25, 2019.  She was a pastor for over 30 years, having started her ministry in 1988 at White Pine First Church of God; and later served the Newport First Church of God.  She was instrumental in the East Tennessee Camp Meeting Association in Greeneville, Tn. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by parents, Billie and Mallie Couch; brother William “Bill” Couch Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Austin and Delia Smith.  

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Smith; children, Traci (Tommy) Kinser, Theresa (Bobby) Singleton, Chad (Debbie) Smith; Billy (Heather) Smith; grandchildren, Chasity (Brandon), Zachary, Nicholas, Tasha, Nathan, Tim (Chasity), Valerie, Casey (Roger), and Heather;  17 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Couch and Mike Couch; sisters-in-law Christine (Butch) Phillips, Carrie Couch; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2019 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 7:00 with Preachers Rick Morrison and Willis Bowers officiating. Graveside services are planned for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
