Richard Porter Horton

Richard Porter Horton, age 74, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025.  He was a veteran, a caring and generous uncle and friend who loved to help others as shown by being a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and was an organ donor.  He had a love for all things remote controlled and a skilled radio - controlled vehicle hobbyist.  He built, operated, maintained, and taught others to enjoy the hobby.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Burnie Porter Horton; mother, Dorothy “Dot” Marie Ramsey Horton; sister, Bobbie Jean Horton Harrison and brother-in-law, John C. Harrison, Sr.

Survivors include many nieces and cousins, including Cheryl Harrison Shirk (Steve), Kimberly Harrison Cole (Gary), John C. Harrison, Jr. (Wendy), special great nieces, Brandie Mayes Glover, Jennifer Mayes, Lauren Glover, and great nephew, Jonathan Woods.

Special thanks to Mark Blazer, Richard’s dear friend and his daughter, Jessie Dyer for their lifelong friendship and their help during the past few weeks.  Richard will be missed by all of his friends and neighbors in Seymour, his friend John Lowry in Morristown, and his fur baby, Harry.

No services are being planned at this time.
