Richard "Larry" Smith

Richard “Larry” Smith, 68, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems after a sudden illness. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church and after marriage, became a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. He retired from Mahle after 37 years of service. Larry was a former member of the South Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and loved spending time with his family at football games.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Wilma Smith, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Smith; daughter, Robin (Jared) Hale; beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Caleb Hale; sisters, Cheryl “Sherry” (Allen) Black; Gail Miller; brother, Stephen (Kim) Smith; brother-in-law, Kyle (Argel) Kinsler; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; special friend Doug (Renee) Shockley.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 7pm, with Reverend Allen Black and Reverend Dr. Tommy Hood officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held 11am, Monday, October 16, 2023, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
