Robert K. Elkins, 83, of Morristown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Friday, June 3, 2022, after a brief illness. Robert was a devout husband and loving Dad, Papaw, and Poppy. In 1983, he married his “heart” Christeen, and moved his letter of membership from Calvue Baptist to Fairfield Baptist Church where he was a proud deacon, ordained in 1999, men’s Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He loved Jesus, his family his cows, and his garden. He was a blessing to all that knew him. He was employed by Enka (BASF) from 1972-1995 and he later retired from Rittenhouse (NASHUA).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge (Ruby) and Thelma Elkins; his first wife, Barbara Cox Elkins; brothers, Raymond and Harvey Elkins and sister, Shirley Webber.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Christeen Elkins; brothers, Paul (Glenda) Elkins and Wayne (Lisa) Elkins; sister, Wanda Elkins; daughter Kathy Wolfe; son Bobby (Melinda) Elkins, daughter, Angela (Eric)
Kreitz, and daughter-in-love, Rose Elkins; granddaughters, Kyla (Cody) Bussell, Rachel (Blake) Arnwine and Kelly (Jacob) Elkins-Fry; great-granddaughters Kaylyn Bussell and Blakely Arnwine. The family would like to extend a special thank you and deep appreciation to Deborah Johnson, Sharon Wilder and Laura Thompson for their love, kindness, and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Fairfield Baptist Church prior to the service at 7:00 with Scott Helton officiating and special friend/speaker, Carroll Talley. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday, June 6, 2022, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
