Robert Mahon Obituary

Robert Eugene Mahon, 76, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, surrounded by family, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital from a lingering illness. Robert was born on April 27, 1948, in Williamson, WV to Elliott and Nora Matney Mahon. He was raised in Beech Creek, WV. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 and the Williamson National Guard. Robert was a retired coal miner where he worked as an electrician and mechanic. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Nora Matney Mahon; brother, Ed Mahon; brothers-in-law, Nelson Hatfield and Joseph Clusky; and parents-in-law, Estel and Jacqueline Kinder. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Maude Sue Ann Mahon. Robert and Sue Ann were married on August 11, 1984, and moved to Bean Station, TN in 2009, where they’ve enjoyed their retirement and time with their loving family since. He also leaves behind his stepson, Jason (Savanna) Moore of Morristown, TN; stepdaughter, Candi (JR) Butcher of Matewan, WV; daughter, Sayedah (Tom) Hoyle of Maryland; granddaughters, Stephanie Starr of Matewan, WV, Ruthiea Hoyle of Maryland, and Eliza and Shelby Moore of Morristown, TN; grandsons, Adam Starr of Charlotte, NC, Jacob Starr of Matewan, WV, and Jackson Starr of Sprigg, WV; siblings, Carlis (Debbie) Mahon of Myrtle Beach, SC, Garlin Mahon of Sarah Ann, WV, Shirley Hatfield of Princeton, WV, and Pauline (Harold) Bluebaugh, of Princteon, WV; sister-in-law, Manya (Richard) White of Little River, SC; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service with military honors will celebrate Robert’s life at 3PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Harrell Cemetery in Bean Station, followed by a gathering for family and friends at Robert and Sue’s home. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Morristown Hamblen Hospital, Dr. Ramsey, and Dr. Doddabele for their care of Robert throughout his illness, as well as Allen Funeral Home for their care of him and the family during this time.
