Ronald Glenn Combs, 81, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2024, after a lingering illness.
Ron was a member of First Christian Church for 76 years. He was a deacon for two years and an elder for 28 years. He taught Sunday School, lead singing, and was an usher for over 20 years. He was the church custodian for 25 years. Ron loved his church!
He retired from Enka after 30 years of service. He went to Walter State, where he maintained a 4.0 average. Ron was the facilitator at Days Inn for 15 years. He then retired to stay home and enjoy his family that he loved more than anything in the world. The love he had for his family was endless, as was the love they had for him.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Davis Combs (Pat); children, Lorie Ann (Danny) Sigler and Leah Ranell (Chris) Thompson; grandchildren, David (Lindsey) Thompson, Beth (Charles) Bearden, Emily Rae Sigler, Becca Thompson Smith, and Jacob Andrew Sigler; great-grandchildren, Ally, Cameron, and Kyra Thompson, Alexis and Olivia Bearden; brother, Steve (Kathy) Combs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. and Hazel M. Combs; sister, Phyllis Greene; and brothers, Billy and Jerry Combs.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at First Christian Church-Morristown. Funeral services will follow at 7 PM, with Rev. Lamar Garrison and Rev. J.R. Hengehold officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
Special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research or Shriners Children Hospitals.
More than anything else in the world, He loved.
