Ronald Edward Hurst, 64, of Bean Station, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2026, with his family by his side. He was an employee of Kawasaki TN in Morristown before becoming sick in October of 2024. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing hind catcher for Kawasaki Men’s softball team. Being a man of many talents, he was also a black belt in karate. Ronald was affectionately known as “papaw” to many.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Nell Jacqueline “Jackie” Black Hurst; sisters, Rhonda Hurst Davis and Regina Hurst Lipe; brother, Roger Lee Hurst; grandparents, Rufus and Edith Black and Vineyard and Irene Hurst; niece, Amanda Wolfe; several aunts and uncles; brother-in-law, Ray Davis; and nephew, Tyler Davis.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Rhonda Wright Hurst; daughter, Brandy (Tyler) Legg; grandchildren, Eve Winstead, Brandyn and Jesse Haase; great grandchild, Ryker Haase; adopted son, Daniel Combs; mother and father-in-law, Howard and Carolyn Wright; sister-in-law, Tracy (Marke) Turner; brother-in-law, Mike Lipe; nieces, Melissa Hurst (Mardy) Horton, Melanie (Jason) Layton; Mindy (Jesse) Pavlak; nephew, Scott (Lisa) Davis; his “Girls”, Bella Rose and Mia Hurst; as well as several other nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the neighbors, Elizabeth, Donna, Katie, Betty, Steve, and Aunt Donna, who have helped in one way or the other. As well as to all the nurses and people with Caris Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM, with Rev. Bill Johnson and Rev. Jerry Sexton officiating. Graveside services will take place at 11 AM, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Noeton Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
