Roy Lee Lawson, 76, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 22, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to his family. He was saved at the age of 12, a decision that guided his life with faith and quiet conviction.
Roy was a beloved husband to his wife Velna. They shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty and unwavering companionship. As a father and grandfather, he provided guidance, support, loving care, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. His love for his family was the foundation of his life, and his memory will continue to live on in each one of them.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Alice B. Lawson Wright; sisters, Mary Kitts, Joyce Wright; brothers, Charles, Jim and Steve Wright.
Survivors include his loving wife, Velna; daughter, Vinnie (Gary) Ball; sons, Eddie (Beth) Carpenter, Randy (Misty) Carpenter; grandchildren, Travis (Laura) Ramsey, Tiffany (Logan) Hartley, Jeremy (Amelia) Carpenter, Kassie (Raul) Garcia, Katelyn (Jared) Roach, Jonathen, and Kyson; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Ava Mae, AnnLee, Mayson, Baby Layke, Baylynn, Sophia, Lane, Kaden, Caysen, Kian, Adeline and Bentley; brothers, Don, Bill, Johnny, and Petie, and a sister, Kathy. Many nieces, nephews, and his special fur baby, Daisy Grace.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 7:00 pm with Reverend Dannie Bell officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday, March 27, 2026, in Courtney Cemetery, 192 Morrisett Chapel Road; Whitesburg, TN. 37891.
