Selma Grace Yokley Nicholson, aged 96, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2025, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Born on May 3, 1929, in Jearoldstown, Tennessee, Selma was the daughter of George H. and Lura G. Combs Yokley. From her earliest years, she was known for her gentle spirit, her love of nature, and a heart that saw the beauty in the simple things around her. In 1957 she married Charles Glenn Nicholson and together for 54 years they built a home rooted in love and steadfast devotion until his death in 2011. Selma’s life saw many changes; however, her faith, family, and service remained steadfast. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Morristown and served the church in several capacities. For many years, she was an administrative tax assistant with the Russell and Purkey Accounting firm in Morristown.
Selma is preceded in death by her parents, George H. and Lura G. Yokley and brother, George Yokley of Kingsport, TN.
Selma is survived by her niece, Beverly Yokley; nephew, Phillip (Pam) Yokley; grandnieces, Moss Sanders, Angela Yokley, and Natalie Yokley; and grandnephew, James Yokley.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Pastors Josh Ogle and David Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery in Greeneville, Tennessee.
