Thomas Bruce "Tom" Winkler

Thomas “Tom” Bruce Winkler, 85, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, surrounded with his family after a short illness.

He was a retired test analyst from General Motors Proving Grounds, located in Milford, MI.  He moved to Tennessee in the winter of 2001 where he and his wife would build their dream home in the mountains.  He loved working with wood and building things. Tom enjoyed volunteering at The Daily Bread soup kitchen, The Morristown Stock barn and the Food Pantry at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church where he was a member for 19 years. He and his wife were involved with disaster relief and traveled where there was a need. Tom also served with the Baptist Builders.  He was always ready to lend a hand and tackled projects with a passion.  His sense of humor will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Winkler; brother, Jim Winkler; sisters, Mavis Umphenour, Shirley Gute and Mary Hansen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dohreen; daughters, Kris (Bryon) Taylor,  Kenda (Dave) Ladd, Shannon Winkler, and Heather (Jason) Durham; son, Kim Winkler (Diane); precious grandchildren, Lily, Solomon, Phoebe, Selah, Simon and Sarah; his younger brother, Patrick (Patricia) Winkler.

A Celebration of Tom's Life Service will be held 4PM, Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Mowery officiating.
