Velma Long Parker, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her home in Morristown.
Velma’s life was a constant act of love, always willing to serve others with a joyful, smiling spirit that uplifted everyone around her. She was a hard worker, always in her yard or flowerbeds, and always making things around her pretty. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil Long and Edna Mae Johnson Long; brothers, Jay, Ben and infant Ronnie Long; sisters, Betty Lane Dorothy Ledford, Katherine “Kat” Long, and Rena Jinks.
Survivors include her husband, Willis Parker; daughter, Teresa Visage; son, Gary Parker; brothers, Ralph “Buck” Long, James “Jim” Long, and Joe Neil Long; sisters, Mary Nell Rines and Evelyn Smith; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Services will be in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Travis Bowden and Rev. Ray Smith. Graveside Services will be held in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
