Vernon Dwane Wilder, 83, of Mooresburg, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Regency Retirement Village in Morristown. Vernon was employed for many years at TRW in Rogersville and before that at Magnavox in Morristown. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1959 – 1961, stationed at West Point, NY. He was also a member of the Tate Springs Masonic Lodge #438. Vernon was friend to all and never met someone with whom he couldn’t strike up a conversation.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy (Greene) Wilder; brother, Carrol “Heavy” Wilder; and great-grandson, Brady Goins.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Martin) Wilder; son, Dwane Wilder (Karen) of Clinton, TN; daughter, Pam (Wilder) Everhart (Todd) of Royal Oak, MI; grandchildren, Autumn Longmire (Luke) of Lafollette, Shannon Standifer (Cody) of Knoxville, and Jake Everhart of New York; brother, Dan Wilder (Janice) of Rolesville, NC; great grandchildren, Amelia, Lincoln, and Arthur Longmire, and Kellan Clapp of Knoxville; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Vernon’s wife, Betty, and children, Dwane and Pam, extend a heartfelt thanks to nephew Chris and his wife Stacia for their constant love and support during the last year as Vernon’s health declined.
The family will hold a private graveside service Saturday, October 19, at Bethesda Cemetery, in Morristown, TN.
