Vicki Lynn Jarnigan died peacefully at her home on September 7, 2023 looking forward to seeing her Savior, Jesus. She was the wife of Eddie Jarnigan of Bean Station; the mother of Jennifer (Jamie) Hodge of Knoxville and Bo Hoover of Morristown; the stepmother of Karlene (Chuck) Webb and Darwin (Morgan) Jarnigan of Morristown; grandma to Ansleigh Hoover and Abrienne and Reagan Jarnigan. Eddie and Vicki were married nearly 27 years and went on many adventures with family and her special friends: Lori Smith and Eula Dickerson.
Vicki graduated from Morristown East High in 1973. She had several jobs, but she was given the opportunity to work at the District Attorney’s office in Morristown, then transferred to the Greeneville office to the Child Support Division. This became her 30-year career where she retired in 2012.
She attended church at Fairview Bible Baptist Church. She thought she had been saved at a young age, but realized later that she hadn’t made that commitment, so she accepted Christ as an adult. From that time, she was consumed with reading The Bible to try to understand every word. She has several notebooks full of notes she has taken. She loved to sing and play the piano. One of the first songs she taught Ansleigh was “I’ll Fly Away.” She would play it for Ansleigh to sing. Vicki commented many times that she was looking forward to seeing “Beulah Land.”
In addition to her grandparents, she was preceded in death by her father, Bert Jefferson; her brother, Gene Jefferson; her sister, Sue Jefferson; her nephew, DJ Wilson; her mother-in-law, Dorsie Jarnigan; and brothers-in-law, Jim Wilson, Coy Dalton, and Donald Bowlin. Along with her immediate family, she is survived by her mother, Willie Mae Jefferson; her sisters, Linda Wilson and Traci Jefferson; her sisters-in-law, Earlene Dalton and Doris Ann Oaten; many nieces and nephews including Adam Jefferson and Jesse Wilson; multiple cousins; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Jefferson Memorial Hospital and the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, particularly Shonda Connelly. They also want to thank countless friends and extended family who called, texted, visited, brought food, and especially those who held them up in
prayer.
They will receive friends at Allen Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10 from 5 pm – 7 pm. The service will begin at 7 with Chip Winstead, Curt Seal, and Steve Kinsler officiating. The graveside will be at 11 am on Monday, September 11 at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
