Wanda “Sue” Winstead, 77, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, July 24, 2025. She was a member of Fairview Bible Baptist Church and attended Westview Baptist Church until her health declined.
Sue was preceded in death by parents, James Young and Pauline Young; brother, Lester Young; grandparents, C. L. “Doc” and Mollie Shropshire; aunts, Dorothy Moulton, Linda Moneymaker, and Margie Hubbard; special aunt, Peggy Turner; sister-in-law, Sue Sizemore; and brothers-in-law, Freddie Winstead and Mark Greene.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 58 years, Dan Winstead; daughters, Angela Hutsell and Aimee (Allen) Lamb; grandchildren, Adam (Emma) Hutsell, Isaiah Lamb and Molly Lamb; and sisters-in-law, Irene (Bud) Dukes, Francie Whaley and Margie Winstead.
Sue was a loving Wife, Mom, and Nana. She took pride in her yard and loved working in her flower beds. But what gave her joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Adam, Isaiah, and Molly.
The family would like to personally thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the care that was shown to Sue during her sickness. Also, a special thanks to Shannon and Tabby for their love and kindness given towards Sue.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM, on Monday, July 28, 2025, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 PM, with Rev. Travis Webb and Rev. Randy Epps officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Catherine Nenney Cemetery.
